English teaching jobs in Thailand is in high demand, mainly because the teachers in this country can combine an enjoyable vacation with an intensive international course. The teachers in Thailand can expect to teach around twenty four classes in a week. The class duration in the regular schools of Thailand are from 50 to 60 minutes. The regular schools are open from Monday to Friday in a week and thus the teachers can have a gala time during the weekends. The schools are also generally closed in the Thai National Holidays. The teachers will have to follow the same routine as the other Thai teachers. The Thai schools are quite conservative and the teachers are expected to behave and dress properly during the teaching sessions. The teachers will have to make the lesson plans, attend morning assemblies and asses the students every week like their Thai counterparts.
The ESL teachers in Thailand have to wear formal dresses and even the shoes of the teachers have to be formal. If the teachers have tattoos, it should not be visible. The male teachers should have short hair and be clean shaven. The Thai have great respect for their teachers, but the teachers also have to reciprocate it and behave appropriately. The ESL teachers in Thailand have to participate in English Clubs and English summer camps with the other teachers. They have to prepare lesson plans and take help from the other ESL teachers and also sometimes help them. It is the duty of the teachers to monitor the students individually. ‘Greeting Activity’ is a common activity in the school days and the teachers have to participate in it by turn.
The teachers in Thailand are entitled to all the Thai national
holidays and off on weekends. In most of the western occasions, there are no
holidays. But the ESL teachers are expected to take part in the occasions if
there is any.
